Application Lifecycle Management

For Years, Axiletech has facilitates software development organizations to break free of rigid, process oriented application lifecycle which separate development, testing, project management and operations team. Axiletech's approach to Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is to provide a flexible and live environment which familiarized to your team's need, eliminates barriers between roles and streamlines processes so that your organization can focus on delivering best quality software quickly and efficiently.

In today's IT world where software development is more and more critical to business success, the ALM beliefs materialized by Axiletech are more related than ever.

Application Life Cycle Management is the incessant process of managing life of an application. At the same time some people associate the application with the lifecycle of software development, which involves much more. An application lifecycle includes the whole organizational time during which organization spend money on it from the initial starting time of its idea to the end of the application's life.

Application Lifecycle Management

ALM basically covers the whole history of an application, usefulness, components or software solution, from initial idea to its completion from an organization's system. The life cycle of Software Development is part of ALM however it's not the complete thing.

Application Lifecycle Management can be separated into three different areas.

  • Governance
  • Development
  • Operations

An Application's life cycle commences with its designing or formation, proceeds to deployment and production and ends in deletion from the service when the application has no value in business. Governance, which includes all of the decision making and project management for the application, extends to over the entire time. The whole intention of Governance is to make sure the application forever provides what the business requires and to make sure an ongoing of the application's benefits and costs. As the high quality Governance always facilitates business to maximize the value of their applications, in several ways it is the most important aspect of Application Life Cycle Management.

Development, is the process of actual creation of the application, which occurs between creation and deployment. For many of the applications, the Development process reappears many times in the application's lifetime, both for upgrading and for whole new versions. Many times it is noticeable that the money spent on these updates and new versions may significantly exceeds the original development costs.

Each and every installed application must be supervised and managed by Operations, the work needed to run and manage the application, typically begins shortly before deployment and runs constantly till the application is removed from the service.

These three features of Application Lifecycle Management are firmly connected and any organization which seeks to maximize the business value of custom software will have to do all three well.
